GROWING PLUMERIAS FROM SEEDS IS ONE OF THE ONLY WAYS TO GET A NEW VARIETY. MOST OF THE TIME WHEN THE SEEDS BLOOM IT WILL NOT BE THE SAME AS THE MOTHER PLANT. GROWING PLUMERIAS FROM SEEDS IS FUN AND REWARDING THE BLOOMS WILL CHANGE COLOR 3 TIMES THE THIRD TIME WILL BE THE FINAL COLOR, PLUMERIA SEEDLINGS HAVE TO BE ABOUT 2 1/2 TO 3 FT TALL BEFORE IT WILL BLOOM THIS COULD TAKE ABOUT 3 GROWING SEASONS ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF, IF PLANTED IN THE GROUND IT WILL GROW FASTER AND BLOOM SOONER. THE FIRST PICTURE IS A PLUMERIA SEEDPOD IT TAKES ABOUT 9 MONTHS TO MATURE, WHEN THE SEEDPOD STARTS GET DARK BROWN AND WRINKLED IT WILL START TO SPLIT OPEN THIS IS THE TIME TO PUT A NYLON AROUND IT TO CATCH THE SEEDS THAT FALL OUT. TO START GROWING PLUMERIA SEEDS FIRST YOU MUST GET SOME SEEDS THEN GET YOUR SOIL I USE 50% SUPER SOIL AND 50% COIR AND A HANDFUL OF PEARLITE PUT SOIL MIX IN A POT AND PUT THE SEEDS IN WITH THE WING PART STICKING OUT OF THE SOIL AS SHOWN IN THE PICTURE, THEN WATER THE SOIL AND PUSH THE SOIL AROUND THE SEEDS TO GET GOOD CONTACT, I LIKE TO PUT A PLACTIC BAGGIE OVER THE POT SO THERE WILL BE HUMIDITY ITS LIKE A GREENHOUSE. IN ABOUT 7 TO 10 DAYS THEY WILL START TO GERMINATE. PLUMERIA SEEDLING GROW FAST AFTER THE FIRST YEAR THEY SHOULD BE ABOUT 8 TO 12 INCHES IN HEIGHT SO ITS INPORTANT TO REPOT TO BIGGER POTS THROUGH OUT THE GROWING SEASON. IN THE WINTER WHEN THE PLANTS GO DORMANT ITS A GOOD IDEAL TO KEEP THE PLANT INSIDE BUY A WINDOW WITH SOME BOTTOM HEAT TO KEEP IT FROM GOING DORMANT, TRY TO KEEP IT GROWING THROUGH THE WINTER. GROWING PLUMERIAS FROM SEEDS IS A GOOD WAY TO ADD TO YOUR COLLECTION WITH LITTLE COST. I WILL POST SOME MORE PICTURES WITH THE PLUMERIA SEEDLINGS IN DIFFERENT STAGES OF GROWTH. HAVE A GOOD GROWING SEASON.

MY FAVORITE PLUMERIA CELEDINE THE ORIGINAL
MY FAVORITE PLUMERIA IS THE CELEDINE. THIS WAS MY FIRST PLUMERIA, AND AFTER MANY YEARS OF GROWING DIFFERENT ONES THIS IS STILL MY FAVORITE, I CALL IT THE ORIGINAL. THE FIRST THING I DO EVERY MORNING IS IS SMELL ONE OF THE FLOWERS WHEN IN BLOOM AND YOU CAN ALWAYS FIND BOWLS OF WATER ARONUD MY HOUSE WITH THESE FLOWERS FLOATING IN IT. THERE GREAT FOR MAKING LEIS AND MY NEIGHBORS LOVE SMELLING THE FLOWERS. I KNOW THEY HAVE REDS , PINKS, RAINBOWS, ORANGE AND MANY OTHERS BUT IN MY EYES THE CELEDINE IS THE BEST OF ALL PLUMERIAS. ALL 3 PICTURES ARE FROM MY BACK YARD AND FRONT YARD. HAVE A GREAT GROWING SEASON.

BACK YARD STARTING TO FILL UP.
AS YOU CAN SEE I AM STARTING TO AQUIRE MORE PLANTS, AT THIS POINT THE PLANTS ARE STARTING TO GROW AND THE SPACE IN THE BACK YARD IS STARTING TO GET LIMITED. THIS PICTURE WAS TAKEN SOMETIME AROUND 2001-02 AND PLUMERIAS WAS NOT A BIG THING YET, SO BUYING THEM ALREADY ROOTED WAS EXPENSIVE SO GETTING CUTTINGS FROM FRIENDS AND FAMILY WAS MY ONLY OPTION, BUT THAT BECAME A PROBLEM BECAUSE I DIDNT NO HOW TO ROOT THEM, I THOUGHT JUST STICKING THEM IN A CONTAINER WITH WITH SOIL WOULD WORK BUT MOST FAILED. AS THE SEASONS WENT ON I STARTED TRYING DIFFERENT THING AND TALKING TO DIFFERENT GROWERS AND I STARTED TO BECOME MORE SUCESSFUL AT ROOTING SO I STARTED TO GET MORE CUTTING AND THIS HOBBY GOT OUT OF CONTROL AS YOU WILL SEE IN MY NEXT POST. SEE YOU LATER AND HAVE A GREAT GROWING SEASON.

GROWING PLUMERIAS
ABOUT 15 YEARS AGO I STARTED WITH ONE PLUMERIA A CELEDINE THAT MY FATHER GAVE ME. AS THE PLANT GREW I STARTED TAKING CUTTING AND ROOTING THEM TO PUT IN OTHER AREAS OF MY HOME. LIKE MOST PLUMERIA GROWERS A COUPLE WASN`T ENOUGH . A COUPLE OF YEARS LATER I BECAME A ADDICT. AS I BLOG I WILL POST SOME OF MY PICTURES. HAVE A GREAT GROWING SEASON.
